Master the Fundamentals
Learn the essential techniques of driving, putting, and approach shots to improve your overall game.
Hi, I’m John Jones, but most people on the course know me as Bones☠️. I’m a professional disc golfer based out of Kansas City, Missouri, and I’ve been playing disc golf for over 17 years. From Disc Golf Pro Tour stops to World Championships, I’ve played in many elite events and continue to chase growth in every round. What keeps me passionate? Simple, I love throwing all kinds of discs and dialing in every aspect of the game. Whether it’s field work, putting reps, or helping others improve, I’m always down for more plastic and progress.
I first discovered disc golf in Lincoln, Nebraska at the end of 8th grade, and it quickly became a passion that would shape my life. Over the years, I built lasting friendships within Nebraska’s amazing disc golf community, a group that’s always felt like home. Lincoln is also where I met my wife, Kristin Jones, and fittingly, our very first date was a casual round at Tierra Park. It’s the city where I fell in love with the game and where I captured my first A-tier win. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of those early friends, and most importantly, my incredible family.
I can’t talk about disc golf without mentioning my sidekick, Coach Beau, my loyal mini Australian Shepherd. He’s by my side nearly every day on the course, keeping our training sessions on track and our spirits high. No matter how cold or windy it gets, he never complains. And after a bad shot? Not a single look of judgment, just wagging support. He’s more than just a disc golf dog, he’s my trail buddy, motivator, and an irreplaceable part of the team.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to take your game to the next level, my disc golf lessons are built to help you grow in all the right ways. We’ll start by mastering the fundamentals — from smooth, consistent drives to dialed-in putts and reliable approach shots. These core skills are the foundation of a strong, well-rounded game.
As your technique improves, so will your confidence. One of the most rewarding parts of coaching is watching players step up to the tee pad with trust in their form and the mental clarity to execute under pressure. Through real-time feedback, we’ll fine-tune your mechanics, clean up any inefficiencies, and help you unlock more accuracy and distance.
But there’s more to disc golf than just throwing well. We’ll also dive into the mental side of the game — learning how to stay focused, bounce back from mistakes, and keep a positive mindset in all conditions. On top of that, I’ll help you sharpen your course strategy: making smart shot selections, managing risk, and navigating each hole with a plan that works for your style of play.
By the end of our sessions, you’ll not only feel more confident in your skills but also more in control of your game. Let’s level up your play together.
Whether you’re chasing your first clean drive or shaving strokes off tournament rounds, let’s build a plan that fits your game.

My lessons are tailored for all skill levels, from complete beginners looking to learn the basics, to advanced players seeking to fine-tune their form and shot selection. Whether you’re just starting or trying to shave those last few strokes off your game, I can help you reach your goals.
You’ll learn the core fundamentals of disc golf, including proper grip, stance, throwing form, putting, and approach techniques. I also cover shot selection, course management, and the mental side of the game to help you stay calm and focused under pressure.
Lessons typically last 60 to 120 minutes, depending on your goals and experience level. I offer lessons at several local courses, and have a very nice field with baskets near me.
It’s best to bring your own discs, as they’re already broken in and fit your playing style. However, if you’re just starting out or want to try different molds, I can provide a variety of discs for you to test during the lesson.
Most players start to see noticeable improvement after just a few sessions, but the number of lessons depends on your goals and current skill level. I recommend at least 3 to 5 lessons for a solid foundation and long-term progress.
Absolutely! Group lessons are a great way to learn with friends and push each other to improve. Just let me know how many people you have, and I can tailor the lesson to fit the group’s skill levels.
